There are several useful writing tools available online that help you improve and streamline your writing process. This includes humanizing tools, paraphrasing tools and research extraction tools, etc. Text summarizers are also one of them. These tools are powered by technologies like Natural Language Processing (NLP) and Machine Learning (ML) to provide you with accurate summaries of long articles, research papers or other content pieces.

One of the popular tools in this space is the AI Summarizer—a blessing for those drowning in information overload. Today’s article shares an honest review of this tool, including its features, suggested improvements and use cases. So let’s cut to the chase.

Prominent features of AI Summarizer

Let’s discuss the features one by one.

1. Free & paid versions

how to use an ai summarizer tool

The tool comes packed with a much-preferred free version as well as the premium one that goes by the name ‘AI Summarizer 2.0.’ Let’s talk about the Free version first.

Unlike many other online summarizers that allow up to 1500 words of input text, this one gives you the freedom to summarize 3000 words. Moreover, there’s no need for sign-ups no matter how many times you use it for.

As for the premium version, it costs $35.99/year (at the time of writing). This sits competitively with the prices of other summarizer tools. The good thing, though, is that you can purchase their complete toolkit that includes the summarizer at an even better price. It includes additional useful tools like paraphrase, AI humanizer and plagiarism checker, etc.

Suggested improvement: The tool should have allowed a glimpse of the premium version’s functionality so the user can see it in action as well, and better decide whether to purchase it or not.

2. Personalization options

The next feature is the personalization options. They are a necessary element of any online tool, be it for SEO, YouTube or accounting. The more interactive and reader-driven the tool is, the better experience it will provide. AI Summarizer gets high marks in this department.

  • It has a slider option that allows you to vary the length of the summary. Depending on your need, you can move it from ‘Short’ to ‘Long.’ For example, if you want a summary of a blog post, you can move the slider to ‘Long’ and if you want a concise summary of a part of the research paper, you can move the slider to ‘Short.
  • It allows you 2 versions of summaries - Summary 1 and Summary 2. If you’re not satisfied with the language and formatting of the first version, you can choose the second one. Additionally, you can click the ‘Regenerate Summary’ button and get a brand new summary.
  • You have the option to arrange the summary into bullet points by clicking the ‘Show Bullets’ option. It arranges the copy into digestible points instantly.
  • There’s another interesting option, ‘Best Line.’ What it does is provide you with a summary of the summary. Meaning? This smart option captures the essence of the summary and represents it in a single line.
  • By right-clicking individual sentences of the output summary, you can also rephrase them. I love this option because it gives me the freedom to play around with the wording of the sentences according to my desire.

Suggested improvement: Although it offers several useful and exciting features which you’ll seldom find (as a whole) in other online tools, I believe there always remains room for improvement. In this case, I would have liked if the length slider would show me the probable word count of the summary as I move it from Short to Long.

3. Simple & ergonomic interface

In today’s fast-paced world, everyone wants results quickly and that is only possible when a tool’s interface is ergonomic. AI Summarizer has exactly that. The option tabs are placed in close proximity, the language is simple-to-understand and the interface is clean.

Just enter your text as a URL, copy-paste or import, and get the summary on the other side within seconds. No need to hover around looking for relevant options or stuff.

Suggested improvement: A bit of color would have made the interface more appealing.

Use Cases of the AI Summarizer Tool

Now that I have discussed the features of the tool, let’s discuss briefly how you can use it in your daily tasks.

  1. Summarizing long articles: It helps students and researchers quickly extract key insights from lengthy documents, hence saving precious time.
  2. Generating executive summaries for reports: It helps managers and employees pull out key takeaways from business reports.
  3. Condensing meeting notes: It saves time for professionals by providing concise summaries of meetings without sifting through entire transcripts.
  4. Enhancing content sharing speed: It helps marketers quickly generate engaging summaries of articles and blog posts that they can use for social sharing and content repurposing.
  5. Legal document summarization: It aids lawyers and legal professionals to draw out important clauses from lengthy contracts and legal texts.
  6. Customer support ticket summarization: It assists customer support teams by summarizing long customer queries and complaints for quick issue resolution.

Concluding lines

So this was the review of the AI Summarizer. In conclusion, I highly recommend using this tool for your writing needs. I have a strong feeling the manufacturers will keep improving the tool and integrate the improvements I have suggested, resulting in an even better user experience and task effectiveness.
